Dinner and overnight in Cardiff.
Day 3 - Cardiff to Plymouth
Our first stop today will be a few miles outside Cardiff, for a visit to the ruins of Tintern Abbey. Originally built by monks around 1130 AD, the Abbey became one of the busiest monasteries in the area. The hills surrounding the Abbey are covered in woods and are considered one of Wales most beautiful landscapes. We then cross the Severn Bridge over the Bristol Channel into England. Our next stop is in the town of Bath. Visit to the Roman Baths, one of the best preserved Roman religious spas, including the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple and the Roman Bath House. In the afternoon, we head straight South towards Plymouth. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - Plymouth to Penzance
After an early morning stroll along the Plymouth Hoe and harbour we drive across to the Western Coast of Cornwall for a visit to Tintagel Castle. Linked with the captivating legend of King Arthur and ancient tales of knights, Tintagel stands on a dramatic and picturesque headland, linked to the mainland only by a small strip of land. In the afternoon we head south for a visit to Trebah Gardens, near Falmouth. Trebah is a sub-tropical paradise, home to a unique collection of rare and exotic plants and trees, winding down to a private and secluded beach on the Helford River. In the evening arrive Penzance for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - Penzance to Exeter
A short drive from Penzance, we stop in the small resort of Marazion for a visit to St. Michael´s Mount, a magical rocky island crowned by an embattled medieval castle and a Benedictine Priory. The Mount is separated from the mainland by a small causeway: when the tide is down we take a short walk across, or a speedboat if the tide is up. In the afternoon, we head back up north to reach Exeter. Visit of its magnificent Cathedral, a building of monumental beauty. Originally a monastery for Benedictine Monks, its architecture is the result of 400 years of later additions. Dinner and overnight in Exeter.
Day 6 - Exeter to London
On our way back to London, our first stop is near Amesbury to visit Stonehenge, probably the most important pre-historic monument in Britain: a huge circle of standing stones, believed to have been built between 3000BC and 1600BC for ceremonial purposes. Then a quick stop in the city of Salisbury for a visit to its Cathedral, a monument of remarkable beauty and a world class heritage site. Then onto London for dinner and overnight.
